Buying a winch

Buying a winch for my ORV and need to know if an electric winch will still work submerged in mud or not?
There are sealed winches that will work in wet conditions, but they aren't really designed to work "submerged".

If you bury your ORV past the winch mount in mud, It's likely an electric winch isn't going to have enough torque to get you out on its own.

I bought a electric winch from walmart model 2953AT and it makes a clicking sound is that normal?
Can you decribe the "Click" a little more clearly. Is it turning and this only happens at the start of rotation? You will have large electrical relays that slam in to move the high currents

to the motor.

A winch from walmart? Good luck with it. I would choose a lot of cheap winches before i would go the walmart way. I don't know the winch so not sure about the clicking. What is

the rating and brand.
If its a clicking sound it should be and internal locking so every turn it locks it so it wont slip back out
